I was looking through our Volume License Center today, and I noticed that for the Office suite, we have, uh, available activations, out of which we’ve used ? You don’t need to have it reset – they will generally just extend it.

Just tried this to reset MAK on Server successfully, thanks! It did take two phone calls. The first agent transferred me and ended up hanging up on me instead, and the second triage agent wanted me to email, instead.
When I contested respectfully, he sent me on and I was able to reset it immediately. If we arent sure how many to reset the count back to, is it possible for Microsoft to run a reset anyway and wait to see how many computers communicate back to know what number to reset it back to? I’ve emailed makadd microsoft. The agreement id says its been expired but the reseller insists we bought out of the agreement and this doesn’t need renewing until next year so should cover the increase of mak activations.
As an office we have a high turnover and usually recovery image machines in our office frequently, we also did an SSD upgrade this year on all machines without SSD’s. If we have them reset the MAK license count, does the activation on the software automatically happen or any software that is currently activated will report to the server thus counting against the MAK count.
We are supposed to have 10 free but they are currently used up due to imaging, reimaging, computer issues, reinstallations or re-installations of office.
All they do is increase the number of available activations so new machines or reinstalls can activate. Nothing happens to the current installations. We were concerned since we don’t want to be audited due to an inaccurate activation count on their end. They understand activations being higher than actual installs due to reinstalling, imaging rights for Windows licenses, etc.
